What makes a great coach?

Great coaches are a lot of things, they’re patient, firm, insightful, charismatic and they love their game, their club and most importantly, their team. It can be a challenging caper, dealing with expectations, personalities and ensuring everyone, from committee, players and supporters, remain unified in the overall vision. As a coach you witness the triumphs, you celebrate success, you nurture, guide and support your players to achieve and you are there to console when things don’t go to plan.

Randy Pereira displays many of these qualities as a coach and as a member of Melton Central FNC. The accolades as coach is impressive, 10 years as A Grade coach, 5 years as B Grade Coach, 3 Years as C Grade Coach, two-time Premiership coach in 2009 and 2014 and was named as the coach of the RDFL Team of the Year in 2013. During this time, Randy led Melton Centrals to 2 Grand Finals and 3 Preliminary Finals in which we weren’t successful. In the 10 years as coach, Melton Centrals finished third or higher in 7 of those years. In my time, Randy knows how our club works, not only does he strive for success in the netball department, we often speak about the football, their results and the importance of a competitive and successful football side at Centrals. For Randy, it is about the whole club, football, netball, players, supporters, everyone. He bleeds the Navy Blue and is proud of our club.

Congratulations Randy on your Life Membership with Melton Central Football & Netball Club.
